Intermediate level: Asking a woman her age (How old are you?) can be sensitive.
Do you mind if I ask you how old you are? = Is it okay if I ask you how old you are? The interviewer tries to be polite.

Interview 1: Is it okay for the interviewer to ask Joanne her age? Yes and no! Joanne says it is a tough (difficult) question.
