there (adverb): There is used as an adverb to indicate a place already understood.
Margaret says that Americans are helpful when you're on holiday there. The context is the USA. The USA = "there".

There (pronoun) is also used very commonly to indicate existence. For example, There is a vase of flowers on the table:
